Small claims
When it's worth claiming
WiseReturn charges 15% of the refund obtained, with a minimum fee of £30. We don't take on claims worth less than £75 — after our minimum fee there wouldn't be enough left to be worth it for you. If your likely claim is small, the smart move is usually to wait.
Why waiting works
A £50 refund would cost £30 in fees. Two years claimed together — say £150 — costs the same £30. The minimum fee doesn't grow while you wait. Above £200 the 15% takes over and waiting stops making a difference.
You have four years to claim. If you claim several years together you keep far more of it.
You can claim a tax refund directly from HMRC yourself, for free, at gov.uk. We charge a fee because we do the work for you: we check what you can claim, prepare the evidence, and deal with HMRC on your behalf. If you'd rather do it yourself, that's a legitimate choice and we'd rather you knew.
What to do in the meantime
- Keep travel tickets, receipts, and bank or card statements for costs you pay yourself.
- Note each course, detachment or attachment — name, location and dates.
- Come back when the years have stacked up, and claim them together.
