I'm currently serving in the British Armed Forces. A while back I found out I was owed hundreds of pounds in tax refunds I'd never claimed — money I'd been entitled to for years without knowing.

When I looked into getting it back I found the existing services charge up to 36% of your refund as their fee. On a £1,000 refund that's £360 gone. It didn't sit right with me.
